A year after the bold launch of the “Helping 1000 Girls to Embrace Their Flow” project, The Florence Mensah Foundation, in partnership with Reflo Company Ltd., has brought the initiative to a successful close — delivering on its promise to support 1,000 deprived girls with a full year’s supply of sanitary pads and menstrual health education.
The final phase of the project was marked by distributions in Ashaiman, Nima and Assin Ochiso, which coincided with the Menstrual Hygiene Day this year, to reinforce the global call for menstrual equity.
Since its launch in March 2024, the project has directly impacted girls in vulnerable communities across Ghana. Beneficiary schools and communities include: Assin Ochiso D/A Basic School, Assin Ochiso Heritage Academy, Assin Hasowode D/A Basic School, Kedzi Havedzi A.M.E. Zion Basic School (Volta Region), Ashaiman No. 5B Basic School, Ashaiman No. 4 JHS and Nima Basic School.
The project included the distribution of products and interactive sessions and open dialogue that confronted deep-rooted stigma, dispelled harmful myths and empowered the young girls to embrace their menstrual health with confidence, dignity and pride.
“We started with a vision — to ensure that no girl is left behind because of her period,” said Madam Florence Mensah, Founder and Director of the Foundation. “Today, we stand proud, knowing that 1,000 girls can now go to school without fear or shame.”
With the successful completion of this milestone, the Foundation is calling on government, development partners and corporate Ghana to amplify the movement.
The Florence Mensah Foundation remains committed to building a Ghana where no girl’s future is compromised because of her period. With your support, this vision can become a national reality.
